Blowing in the Wind: Summer Seattle Family Photography

Doesn’t this image just shout childhood and summer ?  I love the light this time of the year.  Put a child in a field of dandelions and guess what happens…PURE MAGIC.  My clients often ask where they should schedule their Summer Seattle Family Photography session.  I always start with the ages of the children first, then the environment people like to be in whether it be urban or in a park setting like this Kirkland photography location.  I provided a few of the popular Seattle outdoor photography locations to Red Tricycle in the past.  Then we discuss the pros and cons of different times of day to shoot.  My go to time is always close to sunset for a park setting, but an early morning time could work too.  (Although that would require me to rise and shine :))

The evening time early in the springtime was still early enough not to tucker out this three year old, the background is just gorgeous greenery and non distracting, and the sunset just made her face sparkle.  Did I know I was going to make this shot in advance ? Nope, but making beautiful portraits like this happen with careful planning and logistics. Then the magic can naturally unfold.
