I love working with previous clients. There is a familiarity with the way they look, their personalities, and the style preference of the portraits. The challenge is to keep it looking fresh. Yes, the kids will look different every year, but after about age 3, the changes aren’t as dramatic. That’s why it’s important to brainstorm a little with Mom and Dad about how to achieve a new look, maybe try some different locations; one year in the city, next year at the studio, different times of day and different approaches. Maybe more of a quiet study of their faces and less movement…(not available for two year olds, thankyou.)
One of the things that surprised even me on this session, was that although I have photographed these cuties for three years, and worked at the house the previous year, I started seeing these new looks with them. My little friend in the yellow dress was more playful than ever before and wanted to try anything that was fun. Big bro’ was able to take direction a little more and really understood some of the different ideas we were working on. It didn’t hurt that there was this vintage pickup parked just outside their home, and that Miz Yellow had the most striking golden locks ever.
Thanks L. for letting me play with some creative shots. Your munchkins are a pleasure to work with each time and I love watching their personalities grow.
