Doesn’t this Mom sparkle ? I am so excited for S. and family for the arrival of her little baby any moment. We had a great time catching up and creating these beautiful maternity portraits in the Seattle SODO studio.
I have known her family since photographing her and her husband for their wedding over 8 years ago and subsequently their older son’s first portraits. They are the sweetest couple and they both have an ease that makes you feel instantly relaxed when you are around them…(Being a naturopath is a true calling for S. as you can see how well she embodies this calling. )
We started with using a little fill light and some movement to make some of these modern maternity portraits. I love soulful black and white maternity portraits, but I really wanted to capture S.’ fun spirit and we had fun cutting a little loose with a little “fan” magic, a little movement, and a lot of laughing. I liked that she brought in this cute summer dress and it’s just adorable for her maternity portrait, a nice spin to make her image unique. We also captured a more casual outfit with her black form-fittting top to really show and accentuate those baby curves. Could you believe she’s 8 mths pregnant ? That’s a great time to take a maternity portrait, too close and you might be uncomfortable, too far away and you might not be showing as much as you’d like. At about eight months, you’re pretty close to the belly size to really show off that maternity portrait look.
Best wishes to your family S. C. and L., we’re all excited for you.
